Round three of The Amazing Shake was a huge success at Lakeside Elementary! The excitement kicked up a notch when First Lady Abby Cox arrived! The school council and top 20 finalists greeted her. The students were on fire, showing off their professionalism with their handshakes, eye contact and problem-solving skills. They were able to chat with Abby Cox about education and leadership. After a series of questions, they impressed the judges with their poise and communication. A big thanks to First Lady Abby Cox, Mayor Brian Vincent and School Board Vice President Emily Price for making round three extra special. What’s next? Round 4 is a service project at a local retirement center, and on January 30, the top three students will give a talk to the school as they crown the winner! #AmazingShake #FutureLeaders #DavisSchoolDistrict #FirstLadyAbbyCox #CommunityImpact

✨ A Morning of Magic at the Catalyst Center! ✨ Multiple programs at the Davis Catalyst Center came together for a truly unforgettable experience. Students in the Construction Management program worked hard to move tiny homes onto trailers, helping make a difference in the lives of the homeless in Salt Lake City. “Construction is a really good way to help people. You get to help yourself, you get to help other people, you get to make really cool stuff and do valuable things with your time,” said Emma, a 12th grader in the Construction Management program. “It’s a really valuable pursuit, I think.” Behind the scenes, our Video Production students teamed up with the District Office of Communication to capture this incredible moment on film, documenting the event for the community to see. The collaboration was seamless, and the footage? Simply magical. 🎥 It’s not every day you get to witness teamwork like this—different programs, different skills all united for a common cause. Great job to all involved! #CatalystCenterCollaboration #MakingADifference #TeamworkInAction #Every1DSD #FutureBuilders

Lakeside Elementary’s production of "Newsies Jr." is a must-see. The show tells the inspiring story of the 1899 newsboys’ strike, a true David and Goliath tale. The young cast brings to life the ragtag group of street kids who stood up to media giants Pulitzer and Hearst, proving that when voices unite, they are unstoppable. There are several performances left: Jan. 16-17 at 6 p.m. and the closing night on Jan. 18 at 4 p.m. A big congratulations to the students, teachers and volunteers who made this production possible. #LakesideElementary #NewsiesJr #YouthEmpowerment #CommunityStrength #TheatreMagic

We are incredibly proud of the students, staff and families at Sunburst and Kays Creek Elementary's for coming together to support a great cause. Over the past six months, these two schools have been collecting pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House—all sparked by Megan Shipp, Sunburst’s Behavior Coach, and her son, a Kays Creek student, who was diagnosed with leukemia. Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, they’ve filled over 6 gallon-sized buckets with tabs to help families facing tough times. This project shows how one small act of kindness can inspire an entire community to make a BIG difference. #MakingADifference #RonaldMcDonaldHouse #PopTabCollection #Every1DSD #TogetherWeCan

Foxboro Elementary Students Shine in "BOTS!" Musical. Foxboro Elementary recently showcased the incredible talents of its fourth, fifth and sixth graders in the new musical "BOTS!" The show, featuring robots and their builders in an exciting robotics competition, emphasized the power of teamwork both on and off the stage. “It was amazing to see the students shine and really own their performances,” said Mr. Lingen, Foxboro’s Drama teacher and "BOTS!" director. The performance brought together months of hard work from the cast and crew, including choreography by fourth grade teachers Mrs. Barber and Ms. Brassell. The "BOTS!" musical was performed at both Woods Cross High School and Foxboro Elementary, where students dazzled community members. “It was so fun to watch the students perform in front of their peers and families,” said Mrs. Ari, a kindergarten teacher and parent of a cast member. Foxboro Elementary is proud to offer opportunities for students to showcase their talents and looks forward to more performances in the future. #FoxboroElementary #BOTSMusical #SchoolSpirit #Teamwork #StudentTalent

We're still smiling after a recent event at Viewmont High, where there were over 200 attendees who came together for an enriching conversation with the panelists. The panel featured two students and two parents, who shared their personal stories and insights about their home countries, cultural challenges and the support that has helped them since moving here. Their courage and wisdom made for a truly inspiring discussion. We’re already looking forward to more opportunities to connect and learn from one another in the future. #CommunityConnection #ViewmontHigh #StrongerTogether #Every1DSD

✨ District after-school students are shining bright. They've been busy exploring the science of sound through music, experimenting with instruments and creating their own melodies with Katherine Fowles. In theatre, they've brought the story of "The Lorax" to life with vibrant puppetry and imaginative set designs with Elise Hansen. Witnessing their creativity and enthusiasm makes our hearts sing!
